Scavenger Hunt - September 25th
Join us for the third annual Kara Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, September 25th. Twenty-four guests will meet at Tresidder Union at Stanford between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. and then go out "scavenging" for photos in groups of four, collecting points by getting photos of themselves climbing a tree, duckwalking across a street, with a fireman, etc. Warning: you may look silly and sometimes the competition becomes fierce. But don’t worry, you’ll have lots of choices to win points. Come back at 5:30 to the Stanford Faculty Club for wine and appetizers, followed by a lovely dinner and award ceremony with appropriately silly prizes. Sign up in couples or groups of four or more at $225 per couple. We will combine you into groups of four if you come in groups of less than four. This is a sign-up party, but you can sign up for the entire event if you have lots of friends who don't mind looking ridiculous and having a lot of fun. Always a lively event!
Party is limited to 24 scavengers and will occur on September 25, 2010.  Sign up in pairs for $225 per pair.

Sunday Summer Concert: Private Piano and Flute Concert for 24 - July 25th
A wonderful way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon. Come to Board Member Marcia Adams's lovely historic adobe in Los Altos on July 25th for music and good company. This private concert for twenty-four guests features two talented musicians, a pianist and a flautist. Corinne Barkin, Kara volunteer, and Beverly Radin, former Kara volunteer, had known one another only by reputation. Now, thanks to their Kara connection, they are playing together. Corinne, pianist, attended Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music. She gave her debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 1962 and has performed frequently in New York and the Bay Area, including 2003 and 2004 benefit recitals for Kara. Beverly, flautist, attended Juilliard and the Manhattan School of Music, and studied under Frances Blaisdell, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Marcel Moyse. She has performed in recital and with orchestras in New York, the Bay Area and Europe. The concert will last about an hour and span the classical repertoire from Schumann to Bartok. Wine and cheese selections will be served. This is a sign-up party. Look for the sign-up sheet on the Live Auction Display table in the foyer. Cost is $50 per person.
