2008 Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs
1 magnum [1.5 L] - 2008 Lytton Springs. The 2008 Lytton Springs possesses a deep ruby/purple color and good acidity, and a more closed style than the Geyserville, with a firmer, more restrained overall personality. Ripe nose of raspberry, plum, pepper and chapparel. Blackberry, mineral and vanilla notes dominate the palate. Well integrated tannins typical of this classic vineyard add to the long finish. Enjoyable now, this full-bodied yet elegant zinfandel will continue to develop over the next ten years. 74% Zinfandel, 21% Petite Sirah, and 5% Carignan.

Value: $100.00

2006 Ridge Vineyards Geyserville
1 magnum [1.5 L] - 2006 Geyserville. It is usual for Ridge's Geyserville bottling to vie for top Zinfandel honors in every vintage, and the 2006 version exhibits the depth, density, and solid structure that we have come to expect. A plump, juicy zinfandel, this manages to be vibrant and savory at once. The ancient vines at Geyserville yield spicy berries, their tannins as black as bittersweet chocolate. Finishes sappy, sweet and long, with a deeper cherry note. It is likely to improve over time and comes with a recommendation for a several years of cellaring. 70% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and 2% Mataro.
Value: $100.00

4 Bottle Set of Matthiasson Wine
4 bottles of Matthiasson Wine. Steve Matthiasson was named the San Francisco Chronicle's Winemaker of the Year. This set includes:

-2009 NAPA VALLEY RED WINE: The 2009 Red Wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Malbec, and Petit verdot. This is a riper vintage, reflecting the warm growing conditions and tiny crop that Mother Nature provided. There is plenty of freshness, but the ripe bing cherry and rich chocolaty tannins really characterize this vintage. The aroma includes red and black cherries, dark chocolate, ripe blackberries, and notes of black tea and bay leaf. The flavor on the palate reminds us of chocolate covered cherries, very juicy, and the finish continues with chocolate, dark fruit, and black tea. There is a fair amount of tannic grip, with a high volume of fine-grained tannins.

-2011 NAPA VALLEY WHITE WINE: The 2011 White Wine, is a blend of Sauvignon blanc, Ribolla gialla, Semillon, and Tocai fruilano. The wine is the flintiest/stoniest vintage to date, almost Riesling-like at first, and thanks to the extremely long and cool growing season there is tremendous natural acidity tempered with a lot of flesh and ripeness. Flavors include white peach, kafir lime, lychee nut, grapefruit, and pineapple, along with stones, oyster shells, and freshly baled straw. It’s Matthiasson's most complex vintage to date.

-2010 SONOMA COAST MICHAEL MARA VINEYARD CHARDONNAY: The wine is 100 percent Chardonnay, clone 4 (the clone highest in natural acidity that we are aware of). It has the white peach, toasted almond or marshmallow, and ripe pear nose that is expected with chardonnay, as well as plenty of weight, length, and richness. It is not showy, however—its opulence is natural, not contrived. It has a distinct core of rock dust, or ground oyster shell, which is the distinguishing characteristic of the vineyard.

-2009 NAPA VALLEY REFOSCO: The wine is 100% Refosco dal Penduncula Rosso, a variety typically grown in the Fruili region of Italy. The Refosco has a huge nose of almonds, tropical fruit, and smashed berries. The flavors continue with marzipan, berries, and a stony minerality that is incredibly distinctive. The tannins and concentration are very strong, but the moderate alcohol keep the palate lively and clean.
