"Mystery Shape" Painting by Artist Francine Markoe

"Mystery Shape" painting by artist Francine Markoe. Mixed media, measures 36" x 36". The artist says she hopes that viewers of her work sense a love of the natural environment, desert, mountains, ocean, the vast sky, even the cosmos. She paints spontaneously, trying to capture fluid motion and energy. On both medium and large formats, Markoe likes to use bold acrylic colors to create dynamic patterns which seem to erupt from the canvas with volcanic force. In some of her mixed media work, Markoe places color over prepared layers of different substances or incorporates pieces of natural rock and stone to achieve heavily textured surfaces. In addition to showing her work in galleries throughout California, Markoe does commissions and collaborations with interior designers and architects.
