Schug Wine, Special Sampler Case
Founded in 1980, Schug Carneros Estate Winery is the showcase and life-long dream of one of California's most celebrated winemakers. Walter Schug's reputation blossomed during his tenure as Founding Winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the 1970s. Drawing on his long experience in the production of fine wines in both Europe and California, Walter set up his own winery with his wife Gertrud in the cool, marine climate of the Carneros Appellation. Here he could focus on the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals that had always been close to his heart. This special sampler case of current releases includes 2 Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County; 2 Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast; 2 Chardonnay, Carneros; 2 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast; 2 Pinot Noir, Carneros; 1 Merlot, Sonoma Valley; 1 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley. Schug wines have received numerous gold medals and are consistently reviewed in the 90 point range.

Case of Anaba wine
This case contains six bottles of Anaba 2008 "Coriol" red (Rhône-style blend) and 6 bottles of Anaba 2009 "Coriol" White (Rhône-style white).
The Coriol red is a Châteauneuf-du-pape in style and weight, Côtes du Luberon in acid and flavors. The Grenache and Syrah are sourced from their prized Rhône-varietal vineyard, Landa Vineyards, tucked in the shadows of the southeastern mountains that shape the Sonoma Valley. The Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault come from the opposite end of the Sonoma valley where days are cooler and the growing season is longer for these finicky varietals. These meticulously farmed grapes are a result of the collaboration of the knowledge and experience from their winemaker, consulting viticulturist, and quality driven farmers. The Coriol Red is an ideal companion for food. Decant for an hour-plus and drink this wine in a Burgundy glass, not a Bordeaux as custom may suggest.
The Coriol white was aged in 100% French Oak barrels for 11 months. These grapes were sourced from two family owned vineyards in the Sonoma Valley. From Williamson's vineyard come the Roussanne, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc. Their Viognier comes from the Landa Vineyard located in the shadows of the eastern hills of the Sonoma Valley Appellation. This site consistently produces high quality Viognier grapes, known for their floral aromas and lends a fleshy, rich texture to the wine. This fruit was hand harvested early in the morning to ensure the coldest juice possible and came into the winery in exceptional condition. They then hand sorted, whole cluster pressed and fermented two-thirds in stainless steel under very cool conditions. One third of the fruit was barrel fermented. It is medium bodied and has notes of white pepper, peach and citrus.

One Bottle of 2007 Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot from Henri Germain
2007 Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot from Henri Germain, a white Burgundy (Chardonnay). "Morgeot is a Premier Cru vineyard of Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy, located around (and named after) the Abbaye de Morgeot at the southern end of Chassagne-Montrachet village. Morgeot is one of the more-frequently heard names amongst the Premier Crus of Chassagne-Montrachet, because it is composed of more than 20 sub-divided vineyards, making it the village's largest Premier Cru climat. These vineyards may use either their own titles for their wines or the Morgeot name. While the vineyards in the north of the commune specialize in Chardonnay and those in the south are more suited to Pinot Noir, Morgeot is planted with roughly equal quantities of each variety. Regardless of which title the wines bear, they are made according to the appellation regulations for Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru. Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru wines may be either red (made from Pinot Noir) or white (made from Chardonnay), but it is the whites in particular that have earned the appellation its reputation; it is regarded as producing some of the world's most-respected wines." from the Wine-Searcher.

One Bottle of 2005 Clos de la Vieille Eglise, Pomerol
2005 Clos de la Viellie Eglise, Pomerol, a Red Bordeaux. According to the Wine Spectator: "Licorice, berry and meat aromas follow through to a medium-to-full body, with good tannins and a medium finish... Best after 2008." A classic Pomerol (70% merlot, 30% cabernet franc) and winemaker Jean-Louis Trocard's most serious effort. The property, two parcels totaling a mere 1.5 hectares, has been in the family since the early 1800s. The soil is clay and gravel with iron subsoil, the so-called crasse de fer for which Pomerol is famous. The fruit is dark, intense, deep and powerful. This may be the property's finest wine yet, and one that will continue to reap rewards in the cellar for many years to come. Only 500 cases produced.

One Bottle of 2000 Chateau Canon, 1er Grand Cru Classe, Saint Emilion
One Bottle of 2000 Château Canon, 1er Grand Cru Classe, Saint Emilion, rated 93 by Wine Spectator. The Wine Enthusiast, which gave this wine a 96, wrote in 2003: "This wine is superb. With its power and structure it will age over 20 years or more. Backed by blackcurrant and jelly flavors, it shows great fruity attractiveness even at this early stage in its development. It will develop slowly and evenly to become a reference point for the vintage." The Château Canon vineyards, owned and renovated by the Wertheimer brothers, Alain and Gerard, who also own the fashion house and parfumier, Chanel, lie close to the heart of the appellation Saint Emilion. Drink now or cellar until 2023 or beyond.

One Magnum of 2007 Lytton Springs from Ridge Vineyard
After a dry winter and spring, budbreak came early. Despite the lack of spring rain, temperate summer weather mitigated vine stress and created ideal ripening conditions. At véraison, we dropped a quarter of the young zinfandel. A warm August ripened the fruit earlier than expected, and we harvested the thirty-four parcels as flavors developed fully, fermenting each separately on its natural yeasts. Color and tannin extracted easily, reducing maceration time to seven days, on average. After malolactic, we chose twenty-one lots for this year's wine. Aged for fifteen months in air-dried American oak, this classic Lytton Springs is remarkable for its richness, balance, and elegant texture. It will soften and gain complexity over the next ten years.

One Magnum of 2003 Ridge Vineyards Geyserville Wine
Ridge made its first Geyserville in 1966, from nineteenth-century vines growing on the western edge of Alexander Valley. Over time, we have included more grapes planted along this quarter-mile-wide strip, which follows the old San Francisco and Northern Pacific Railway right-of-way. This distinctive "single site" now consists of three adjoining vineyards that share the same gravelly soils, exposure, and climate. In 2003, a period of intense heat in mid-September ripened all the zinfandel within two weeks; we harvested non-stop to hold sugars and over-ripeness in check. Reduced circulation during the natural-yeast fermentations moderated tannin extraction. We pressed at seven days, and a natural malolactic finished within five weeks. After a year of barrel aging in air-dried American oak, the wine was fined with fresh egg whites. This elegant Geyserville is delightful now, but will gain in complexity over the next five to eight years.

Six Bottles JR 2008 George's Vineyard Zinfandel
Six bottles of JR Wine's 2008 George's Vineyard Zinfandel. The Wine Enthusiast gave this big zinfandel 92 points and noted, "For the second year running, this bottling is a superb zinfandel. It’s as rich and ripe as they get, bursting with fresh raspberries, cherries and mocha, and that briary, brambly quality of wild forest nettles. Yet it’s thoroughly dry, with thick, refined tannins." (4/11) The Connoisseur's Guide awarded it 91 points and wrote, “Big, brooding and cast in the same high-extract style as the winery’s Devious Woman blend, this bottling hones in on very keen and convincing zinfandel fruit that weathers a fair bit of finishing heat without losing its way."(1/11) Only 200 cases were produced. Show off your zinfandel with these six appealing glasses for red wine, hand-painted with purple grapes.
