FAQs

Q1 – How do I participate in the 2023 Walk’n’Run to Remember?

•  Come to Mitchell Park (Bowl Area), 600 East Meadow Drive, Palo Alto, at 9am to enjoy the Opening Ceremony and, if you have not already registered online, register in person for the Walk and Run which begin at 10am.

To save plastic waste, please bring your own water bottle. 


Q2 – How do I register to walk or run?

•  First, click here to REGISTER now! Once you have registered for walking or running, click on the Join Me webpage to create a Join Me account so you can build a Fundraising Team or so you can email your friends and family members to raise donations to benefit Kara.

Q3 – How do I create a fundraising page?

•  Create a Fundraiser Team with your friends, family, and colleagues NEAR AND FAR and compete to raise the greatest donation amount to benefit Kara. Join Me allows you to either create a personal fundraiser page or create a team page to encourage others to join your fundraising efforts.

•  If you need assistance in setting up your fundraiser page, please contact Kathy at kathy@kara-grief.org.

•  Important note: To participate in the event you also need to Register to Walk or Run in addition to setting up your fundraiser team on Join Me.

Q4 – What is the registration cost to participate in this year’s Walk’n’Run?

•  Registration for Adults (18 and over) is $25, the same rate whether you walk or run!

•  Registration for those under 18 is FREE!

Q5 – How do I set a goal for my participation or for my fundraising team?

•  Consider setting a realistic, achievable fundraising goal, e.g., $100 or $250, that will inspire you to achieve more than your minimum threshold.

•  Each person on a team can set their own fundraising goal, and the Team Leader can set an overall financial goal for the team.

Q6 – How can I help spread word about my participation in Kara’s Walk’n’Run?

•  Share photos of your walk and/or run and share memories about the person in your life who died using Kara’s social media (Facebook Event page, Instagram, and Twitter), noting the hashtags #karagrief and #karawalknrun.

•  Send emails about your fundraising or fundraising team from Join Me to your network of friends, family, and colleagues, and encourage them to donate in support of Kara’s grief services.

Q7 – Are there prizes for the teams that raise the most funds for Kara in this year’s Walk’n’Run?

•  YES!! Prizes will be awarded to the TOP 2 fundraising teams!

•  Remember that you can build a fundraising team with people near and far! Encourage your team members to reach out to their friends, family members, and colleagues ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD to maximize your team’s fundraising!

Q8 – Are there prizes for runners in this year’s Walk’n’Run?

•  YES!! Prizes will be awarded to the TOP 2 overall men’s and women’s finishers, as well as the top boy and girl runner finishers ages 12-16, and the top boy and girl runner finishers under 12 years old.
