Gone Campin'
A weekend experience for two during Kara's Camp Erin 2011.  Join campers, parents, volunteers and staff as they check in on Friday, July 29th for opening ceremonies.  Take a tour of the extraordinary venue - the Taylor Family Foundation's Camp Arroyo near Livermore.  Twenty years ago Elaine and Barry Taylor launched the campaign to build a camp for children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities and youth at-risk.  See how far their dream has soared! Tour this extraordinary green camp - the ropes course, climbing wall, chalk garden, organic garden and so much more.  This is where Kara's campers (aged six to seventeen) come each summer for a weekend experience that weaves concentrated grief support throughout a schedule of great old-fashioned camp activities.
Start your weekend by checking into Pleasanton's Rose Hotel, a boutique, 34-room, European-style hotel.  Then head out to Camp Erin, where we'll greet you at the registration table and provide a VIP tour.  You'll be part of the opening ceremony when campers and their parents learn about Erin Metcalf, the inspiration for the 30+ Camp Erins that now happen across the country.  You'll join us in the dining hall for dinner - and this is no ordinary camp fare!  Camp Arroyo's kitchen provides truly delicious and nutritious fare enjoyed by the children and adults alike.  On Saturday, enjoy a tour and tasting at Concannon and Wente wineries. There will be plenty of time to rest and relax in your room, before heading out to dinner at Stacey's Cafe, which locals deem worthy of a handful of stars.  Sunday morning have breakfast with the campers at Kara's Camp Erin and enjoy the closing ceremony, which caps a weekend full of fun and meaning.
Redeem this certificate for vouchers for The Rose Hotel, Stacey's Cafe, Wente and Concannon Vineyards tour and tasting after May 1, 2011 by contacting Stephanie Demos, Development Director, Kara - 650-321-5272, ext. 17 or Stephanie@kara-grief.org.  All arrangements are good only for the weekend specified - Friday, July 29, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.  Room reservation is for two guests only.  All incidental charges will be the guests' responsibility.
