I'm Othar Hansson, a software engineer at Google. I'm also the board president at Kara.
On a Monday night in April 2002, my first wife died by suicide. I was in a state of shock and crisis. Along with friends and family, a community organization named Kara was the biggest help to me as I tried to make sense of this tragedy and work through my grief. I then went on to become a Kara volunteer, working with children after the death of a sibling, and with families healing after a homicide/suicide. I'm proud to say that several other Googlers have been active Kara volunteers even before I heard of the organization.
